CVE-2025-7579Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application hang via catastrophic regex backtracking

Published Jul 14, 2025 · Updated Jul 14, 2025

ReDoS in rank/server.js in Chinese Poetry chinese-poetry 0.1 allows remote authenticated users to block the Node.js event loop. The HTML-cleaning replace operation applies overlapping greedy and lazy wildcards to attacker-controlled markup lacking a closing script or style tag, forcing catastrophic backtracking. Low-privileged network access is required, and a crafted request can saturate CPU and hang the application process.
