Administrator-level arbitrary file read via path traversal
Published Jul 12, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Path traversal in RSFirewall! 1.1.42 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server files through WordPress. The get_local_filename() function accepts a requested file path without confining the resolved path to the WordPress root, so traversal sequences reach files outside that directory. Administrator-level access to the System Check file-view action is required, and successful exploitation discloses server-file contents without changing them.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
