Stored script execution via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Aug 6, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in WPBakery Page Builder 8.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. Several shortcode handlers accept user-supplied attributes without sufficient sanitization and render them without sufficient output escaping. Contributor-level access is required to save a payload, which executes in a browser whenever a user views the injected page.
