Crash via unchecked pdfwrite file pointer
Published Jul 12, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Null pointer dereference in GhostPDL through commit 3989415a5b8e99b9d1b87cc9902bde9b7cdea145 allows remote attackers to crash the process. When opening a new pdfwrite output file fails, pdf_ferror passes pdev->file to gp_fflush and gp_ferror without checking whether it is null. Exploitation requires a user to process attacker-controlled input and only interrupts the GhostPDL process; no data disclosure or modification is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
