Account takeover via editable IdP review email
Published Jul 10, 2025 · Updated Aug 31, 2026
Origin validation error in Keycloak before 26.0.13 and 26.2.0 through 26.2.5 allows remote authenticated users to take over accounts. The default first-broker-login Review Profile action accepts a replacement email, and Verify Existing Account by Email sends the linking message to that address. Exploitation requires configured IdP login, attacker accounts in both systems, knowledge of the victim identifier, and a victim who opens the verification link within five minutes.
