Unauthenticated arbitrary file upload via unchecked file types
Published Jul 15, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Arbitrary file upload in HT Plugins HT Contact Form 2.2.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to write files via a public AJAX action. The temp_file_upload() path trusts client-controlled names and moves uploads into wp-content/uploads/ht_form/temp without server-side extension or MIME validation. A published exploit shows that a page containing the form exposes the nonce needed to upload a PHP web shell, after which server configuration determines code execution.
