Root password recovery via MD5-crypt hash

Weak password hashing in FNKvision FNK-GU2 40.1.0 through 40.1.7 allows physically proximate attackers to crack the root password offline. The device stores the root account password hash in /etc/shadow with the $1$ prefix, selecting the obsolete MD5-crypt scheme. Physical disassembly and privileged filesystem access are required to retrieve the hash; the weakness exposes the root credential to offline cracking.
