Open redirect via Host-derived redirect URL
Published Aug 14, 2026 · Updated Aug 14, 2026
Open redirect in go-chi chi before 5.2.2 allows remote attackers to redirect requests to arbitrary hosts via a forged Host header. The RedirectSlashes function in middleware/strip.go incorporates the unvalidated request Host value into an absolute redirect URL. Exploitation requires an application to enable RedirectSlashes and a client capable of setting Host; standard browsers and email clients cannot trigger it directly.
