Remote command execution via get_entity scan bypass
Published Jul 4, 2026 · Updated Jul 4, 2026
Detection bypass in picklescan before 0.0.29 allows remote attackers to hide command execution in malicious pickle files. The scanner does not flag idlelib.calltip.get_entity in a pickle reduce method, although that function evaluates the attacker-controlled expression supplied as its argument. Execution requires a victim to trust the clean scan result and load the file, after which the expression runs commands with the victim process's privileges.
