Code execution via timeit blacklist omission
Published Jun 21, 2026 · Updated Jun 21, 2026
Detection bypass in Matthieu Maitre picklescan before 0.0.25 allows remote attackers to trigger code execution via crafted pickle files. The scanner's unsafe-globals blacklist omits the timeit module, so a reduce payload using timeit.timeit imports os and invokes os.system without being flagged. Execution occurs only after a recipient trusts the clean scan result and deserializes the file with pickle.load, running commands with that process's privileges.
