Code execution via missed runcode pickle gadget
Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026
Detection bypass in picklescan 0.0.26 and earlier allows remote attackers to deliver pickle files that execute code when loaded. The scanner does not flag idlelib.pyshell.ModifiedInterpreter.runcode when a pickle reduce method names it, so the crafted object passes inspection. Code runs only after a user or application trusts the clean scan result and deserializes the file with pickle.load(), allowing attacker-supplied commands to read or alter data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
