KUnit test failure via unlocked shmem purge
Published May 8, 2026 · Updated May 8, 2026
Improper locking in Linux Kernel 6.16 through 6.18.15 and 6.19 through 6.19.5 allows local users to trigger DRM KUnit test failures. The shmem purge test calls drm_gem_shmem_purge_locked() without holding the GEM object's reservation lock, producing a kernel warning during purge. Reachability requires local execution of the affected KUnit tests; the helper is not an interface for regular drivers.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
