Local root code execution via signature-verification race
Published May 21, 2026 · Updated May 21, 2026
TOCTOU in Trend Micro Apex One (Mac) iCore service allows local users to execute arbitrary code as root through signature verification. The service checks a file signature without properly validating its path, allowing the checked file and the later-used file to differ. Exploitation requires low-privileged code execution on a macOS endpoint and yields arbitrary code execution in the root context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
