Password disclosure via uncleared CIFS reconfiguration buffers

Information disclosure in the CIFS client of Linux Kernel allows local users to obtain password data during mount reconfiguration. On an smb3_reconfigure() error from smb3_sync_session_ctx_passwords(), the function returns without freeing or securely erasing new_password and new_password2. A local user must reach this CIFS reconfiguration error path; the retained buffers contain credentials and consume kernel memory.
