CVE-2025-71136

Memory disclosure and crash via unchecked error indexes

Published Jan 14, 2026 · Updated Jan 14, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in the adv7842 driver in affected Linux Kernel releases allows local users to disclose memory or crash the system. The adv7842_cp_log_status() path uses -EIO returns from cp_read() and hdmi_read() as array indexes instead of rejecting the failed reads. Reachability requires a system using the adv7842 driver and a failed device read during status logging; exposure is limited to memory disclosure or a kernel crash.
