Local denial of service via reversed freeze check
Published Jan 14, 2026 · Updated Jan 14, 2026
Denial of service in Linux Kernel 6.18 through 6.18.2 allows local users to disrupt suspend through unintended filesystem freezing. The filesystems_freeze_callback() function tests freeze_all_ptr without the required negation, so it freezes every filesystem when filesystem_freeze_enabled is false. Low-privileged local access is required; the reported consequence is a kernel warning during suspend rather than data loss or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
