Kernel panic via incorrect shadow-stack range scan
Published Jan 14, 2026 · Updated Jan 14, 2026
Denial of service in affected Linux Kernel releases allows local users to trigger a kernel panic through shadow call stack usage checking. In kernel/scs.c, scs_check_usage passes the task_struct address rather than task_scs(tsk) to __scs_magic, causing its loop to scan the wrong memory range. Reachability requires CONFIG_DEBUG_STACK_USAGE, and the panic path requires the computed range to cross unmapped memory.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
