Invalid kernel read via unchecked Wi-Fi TID
Published Jan 13, 2026 · Updated Jan 13, 2026
Out-of-bounds access in affected Linux Kernel releases starting at 6.9 allows physically proximate attackers to trigger an invalid kernel read via Wi-Fi. The rtl92cu_tx_fill_desc() function uses the TID returned by ieee80211_get_tid() to read sta_entry->tids[] without first checking the nine-entry array bound. The path requires the rtl8192cu driver and a transmitted frame with TID 9 or higher; Ubuntu reports that userspace cannot directly or reliably influence that kernel-generated value.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
