Service hang via f2fs lock-order inversion
Published Jan 13, 2026 · Updated Jan 13, 2026
Deadlock in the f2fs filesystem in Linux Kernel allows local users to hang the system through conflicting lock acquisition. The f2fs error-recording and inode-eviction paths acquire cp_rwsem, filesystem-reclaim, and internal-write locks in conflicting orders during atomic writes, truncation, and memory reclaim. A local low-privileged user must exercise an affected mounted f2fs filesystem while reclaim and inode eviction interleave; the resulting cycle can stall the kernel and interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
