Login session confusion via forged authentication request
Published Apr 9, 2026 · Updated Apr 9, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in phpBB 3.3.15 allows remote attackers to place a victim in an attacker-controlled account via a login request. The ucp.php login endpoint accepts a cross-origin POST containing attacker-chosen credentials without a CSRF token bound to the victim session. Exploitation requires the victim to visit an attacker-controlled page; the published proof of concept shows session confusion, not arbitrary code execution.
