Node takeover via unblocked keyboard shortcuts
Published Jun 11, 2026 · Updated Jun 11, 2026
Authentication bypass in ABB Freelance Security Lock through 2024 allows local users to access Windows and alter system access controls. Freelance Operations fails to block special keyboard combinations, exposing Windows functions that let non-admin users modify Security Lock data files. Security Lock must be enabled and the affected node must be reachable locally or through network access; exploitation can stop the node, make it inaccessible, or grant control.
