Dataplane disruption via malformed MACsec packets
Published Jan 6, 2026 · Updated Jan 6, 2026
Denial of service in affected Arista EOS releases allows attackers to restart the MACsec process with a crafted adjacent-network packet. The Macsec agent interprets malformed length or encrypted data, triggering an allocation-overflow or cryptographic-error assertion and SIGABRT. Exposure requires at least one active MACsec profile; repeated packets can disrupt dataplane traffic beyond a single agent restart.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
