Crash via unchecked VobSub packet size
Published Jan 15, 2026 · Updated Jan 15, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in GPAC 2.4.0 allows context-dependent attackers to crash GPAC via a crafted VobSub subtitle package. The VobSub demuxer accepts an attacker-controlled dsize without checking it against the packet allocation set by psize, so vobsub_get_subpic_duration reads beyond the heap buffer. A victim must open or process the malicious .idx/.sub pair; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash, not code execution or data exposure.
