CVE-2025-7029

SMM code execution via unchecked RBX-derived pointers

Published Jul 11, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026

Untrusted pointer dereference in GIGABYTE UEFI-OverClockSmiHandler 1.0.0 allows local users to execute code in SMM. The software SMI handler for input 0xB2 trusts attacker-controlled RBX-derived OcHeader and OcData pointers, then performs structured writes into SMRAM. Local or remote administrative privileges are required; successful exploitation bypasses OS protections and can disable Secure Boot or Intel BootGuard.
