SMM code execution via unchecked RBX pointer
Published Jul 11, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Memory corruption in GIGABYTE Technology UEFI GenericComponentSmmEntry 1.0.0 allows local users to write arbitrary data to SMRAM. The CommandRcx0 function accepts the attacker-controlled RBX register as an unchecked pointer and writes to attacker-specified SMRAM addresses. Administrative access is required to invoke the SMI handler; successful exploitation enables SMM code execution and persistent firmware compromise.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
