Process crash via NULL descriptor strlen call
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in GPAC MP4Box 2.5-DEV-rev1815-g261ffdd13-master allows attackers to crash the process via a crafted MP4 file. In media_tools/isom_tools.c, gf_media_map_esd calls strlen() on an uninitialized codec, MIME, or profile descriptor after parsing an invalid stsd entry. Exploitation requires MP4Box or a pipeline embedding libgpac to process attacker-supplied truncated media; the bounded result is a process crash.
