Process crash via unchecked option lookup
Published Jun 15, 2026 · Updated Jun 15, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in dhcpcd 10.3.0 allows attackers to crash the process by supplying an invalid configuration option. The parse_option() function dereferences a struct dhcp_opt pointer after an option lookup returns NULL for an unexpected token or parser state. Exploitation requires influence over configuration input; published evidence demonstrates an instrumented-build abort but does not establish remote reachability or a persistent service outage.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
