CVE-2025-7008

Code execution or crash via malformed .NET metadata

Published Jun 12, 2026 · Updated Jun 12, 2026

Heap out-of-bounds read in Avast Antivirus before definition build 25021310 allows attackers to execute code or crash via a malformed PE file. The shared scanner's .NET metadata handling reads beyond a heap buffer while parsing malformed Windows PE metadata. Exploitation requires user interaction that places an attacker-supplied file into a local scan; AVG Antivirus, Norton AntiVirus, Avast One, and Avast Business Antivirus share the affected engine.
