JavaScript execution via unsanitized popup content
Published Apr 14, 2026 · Updated Apr 14, 2026
Cross-site scripting in Leaflet 1.9.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript when a victim opens a crafted map popup. The bindPopup method inserts string content into popup HTML without sanitization, so event-handler attributes in attacker-controlled marker content run as code. Exploitation requires an application to pass untrusted content to bindPopup and a victim to view the popup; code then runs in that page's browser context.
