Privileged-browser script execution via unescaped error messages
Published Feb 3, 2026 · Updated Feb 3, 2026
Reflected XSS in NetBox 2.11.0 through 3.7.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in a privileged user's browser. ProtectedError handling inserts attacker-controlled object representations into HTML error messages after their fields are marked safe, bypassing output escaping. A low-privileged account must create the malicious name, and a privileged user must trigger a deletion blocked by a protected relationship; the script then acts with that browser session's access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
