CVE-2025-6981Network attack vector

Internal repository disclosure via contractor authorization bypass

Published Jul 15, 2025 · Updated Jul 16, 2025

Incorrect authorization in GitHub Enterprise Server before 3.18 allows remote authenticated users to read internal repositories. The Contractors API incorrectly grants contractor accounts read access to internal repository contents; GitHub has not disclosed the faulty authorization check. Exposure requires the rarely enabled private-preview Contractors API and a contractor account, and the reported consequence is read-only disclosure.
