CVE-2025-6979Network attack vector

Authentication bypass via exposed replace_marker method

Published Oct 23, 2025 · Updated Oct 23, 2025

Authentication bypass in Arista NG Firewall 17.3.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to bypass system authentication through Captive Portal. The handler.py module exposes the dangerous replace_marker method without the intended authentication controls. Exploitation requires Captive Portal to be installed and enabled and a target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file; successful exploitation bypasses authentication on the firewall.
