SYSTEM code execution via redirected DLL injection
Published Mar 16, 2026 · Updated Mar 16, 2026
Privilege escalation in OpenEDR 2.5.1.0 allows local users to execute attacker-controlled DLL code with SYSTEM privileges. The driver's configuration IOCTL passes the InjectedDll value to addSystemDll, whose parent-path check accepts traversal that resolves to a user-writable destination. A low-privileged local account must reach the protected IOCTL, place the DLL, and trigger monitoring of a high-privilege process.
