Authenticated token disclosure via overprivileged devices endpoint
Published Jan 2, 2026 · Updated Jan 2, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Plex.tv Backend through 2025-12-31 allows remote authenticated users to retrieve unrelated access tokens. The clients.plex.tv/devices.xml endpoint returns tokens for other authorized devices when presented with a non-server client token instead of limiting the response to that client. Exploitation requires a valid non-server device token and exposes reusable credentials for impersonating other devices, without reported data modification or service interruption.
