Subscriber-level opt-in manipulation via missing capability check
Published Jan 6, 2026 · Updated Jan 6, 2026
Missing authorization in The Events Calendar 6.15.12.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter system-information opt-in state. The ajax_sysinfo_optin() AJAX handler validates a sysinfo_optin_nonce but omits the manage_options capability check before creating or removing the tribe_systeminfo_optin key. Subscriber-level access and a valid nonce are required; exploitation enables, replaces, or removes the site's diagnostic-sharing key without administrator approval.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
