Unauthenticated service crash via unchecked message length
Published Jan 8, 2026 · Updated Jan 8, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Trend Micro Apex Central 2019 before Build 7190 allows remote attackers to crash MsgReceiver.exe via TCP port 20001. CIPCMsgBuffer_GetStringPtr in msgHandlerLogReceiver.dll trusts an attacker-supplied x_astring length, advances beyond the message buffer, and dereferences the resulting invalid position. No authentication or user interaction is required; exploitation interrupts message reception without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
