Agent behavior modification via unchecked file uploads
Published Jan 7, 2026 · Updated Jan 7, 2026
Missing authorization in LibreChat 0.8.1-rc2 allows remote authenticated users to alter arbitrary agents through file uploads. The POST /api/files agent-upload path processes context or file-search uploads keyed by agent_id without verifying ownership or EDIT permission. Knowledge of a private agent ID is sufficient to insert instructions or searchable content that changes the agent's behavior.
