CVE-2025-69200Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Configuration disclosure via unauthenticated backup endpoint

Published Dec 29, 2025 · Updated Dec 29, 2025

Missing authorization in phpMyFAQ before 4.0.16 allows remote attackers to download configuration secrets through the setup backup API. SetupController::backup() accepts any non-empty request body without a token, authentication, or permission check and calls createConfigBackup(), which writes configuration files to a ZIP under content/core/config/ and returns its public URL. Default rewrite rules expose the endpoint, so internet-reachable installations disclose database and integration credentials without user interaction.
