Memory exhaustion via CAIF length underflow
Published Jan 13, 2026 · Updated Jan 13, 2026
Integer underflow in affected Linux Kernel builds allows attackers to exhaust memory or expose kernel data via a malformed CAIF packet. cffrml_receive() subtracts two from a packet-supplied length without checking for values below two, producing an oversized padding calculation. The packet must reach a CAIF interface with FCS disabled; resulting padding growth can destabilize the kernel and expose uninitialized kernel memory.
