Local denial of service via iomap range underflow
Published Jan 13, 2026 · Updated Jan 13, 2026
Range calculation error in the Linux Kernel allows local users to cause a denial of service through non-block-aligned EROFS reads. iomap_adjust_read_range() skips too many bytes because it assumes block-aligned positions; when all blocks are uptodate, the length underflows and the returned position lies beyond the folio. The path requires local low-privileged access and the all-uptodate block condition, with the published impact limited to availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
