CVE-2025-68793

Local kernel compromise via AMDGPU recovery race

Published Jan 13, 2026 · Updated Jan 13, 2026

Use-after-free in Linux Kernel 6.17 through 6.18.2 allows local users to execute code in the kernel via AMDGPU job submission. In amdgpu_device_gpu_recover, drm_sched_start restarts the timeout queue before the timeout callback finishes, allowing that queue to free the job before its PASID is read. Access to an AMDGPU render or primary device node is required; successful exploitation can disclose or alter kernel memory or crash the host.
