CVE-2025-68743

Overlapping guest memory mappings via incomplete range check

Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025

Improper region validation in Linux mshv allows local users with high privileges to create overlapping guest memory mappings. The region-creation path in drivers/hv/mshv_root_main.c tests only whether a new range's endpoints fall inside an existing GFN or userspace-address range, so it accepts a new range that fully encloses an existing one. Access requires high local privileges, and upstream has not documented the concrete consequence of exploiting the accepted overlap.
