CVE-2025-68640Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthorized device removal via overprivileged PET

Published Jul 21, 2026 · Updated Jul 21, 2026

Improper authorization in Apple device-location backend service through 2025-12-17 allows attackers with a valid PET to remove offline devices. The fmipmobile.icloud.com initClient, authForUserDevice, and remove endpoints accept the PET to enumerate devices, mint a per-device token, and unlink an offline device without ownership or two-factor checks. Exploitation requires possession of a valid Apple ID and associated PET, and the demonstrated consequence is silent removal of offline devices from the account.
