Stored XSS via unescaped taxonomy image fields
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
Stored XSS in Pixelgrade Category Icon 1.0.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run scripts in a victim's browser. The plugin stores term_icon_value and term_image_value without strict validation and renders them without output escaping on taxonomy administration screens. Editor-level access is required, and exploitation affects multisite installations or sites with unfiltered_html disabled when another user views the injected content.
