Remote code execution via Git configuration overwrite
Published Dec 18, 2025 · Updated Dec 18, 2025
Path traversal in Weblate before 5.15.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute code by overwriting repository Git configuration. The filename validator blocked parent-directory references but accepted .git/config within a component path, allowing repository metadata to be replaced. Exploitation requires high-privilege Weblate access to write repository files; a crafted Git SSH setting then overrides Weblate's wrapper when Git runs.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
