Process crash via truncated NFS RPC messages
Published Dec 18, 2025 · Updated Dec 18, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in Elastic Packetbeat allows remote attackers to crash the process with truncated XDR-encoded NFS RPC messages. The NFS protocol dissector reads beyond the available message buffer when it parses a truncated XDR-encoded RPC message. The crafted traffic must reach an interface monitored by Packetbeat; no authentication or user interaction is required, and the reported effect is a reliable process crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0.0 <=7.17.29
- Affected versionversion=8.0.0 <=8.19.8
- Affected versionversion=9.0.0 <=9.1.8
