Kernel crash via uninitialized namespace list node
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
Improper initialization in the Linux kernel 6.18 through 6.18.1 allows local users to crash the kernel through namespace operations. The NS_COMMON_INIT macro leaves each initial namespace's ns_list_node zeroed rather than self-linked, so namespace-list iteration follows invalid links. Low-privileged local access is sufficient, with no user interaction and no reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
