CVE-2025-68372

Local service interruption via NBD configuration use-after-free

Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel NBD client allows local users to interrupt service through NBD device reconfiguration. The recv_work worker drops its nbd_config reference before decrementing config->recv_threads, so NBD_CLEAR_SOCK or an interleaved reconfiguration can free the configuration while the worker still uses it. Local low-privileged access and an active NBD configuration are required; the published impact is limited to availability.
