Kernel crash via unchecked VXLAN socket pointers
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
NULL-pointer dereference in the Linux kernel VXLAN transmit path allows attackers to crash the kernel during packet transmission. The vxlan_xmit_one function can pass absent sock4 or sock6 pointers into route lookup because earlier changes removed their validity checks. Reachability requires VXLAN traffic during an interface state transition, such as bringing the interface down; the bounded consequence is a kernel oops or panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
