Local privilege escalation via notification lifetime mismatch
Published Dec 16, 2025 · Updated Dec 16, 2025
Use-after-free in Linux kernel 6.15 through 6.17.10 allows local users to escalate privileges through io_uring vectored zero-copy sends. The vectored registered-buffer import associates managed fragments with the request io_kiocb instead of sr->notif, allowing pages to be released while notification-backed transmission still uses them. An unprivileged process must submit IORING_OP_SENDMSG_ZC and manipulate the registered-buffer lifetime; stale pages permit memory disclosure, corruption, or a kernel panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
